LEG No.6 - Southwell Caudwell's Mill to Gleadthorpe Grange (19 miles)

Southwell Caudwell's Mill - Maythorne Mill - Kirklington - Eakring - Rufford - Lidgett - Edwinstowe - The Lings - Gleadthorpe Grange

 

A cloudy day with some brief sunshine and a cold breeze, but it was dry. Quite a long walk today or so my legs tell me.

An early start and the walk passes Maythorne Mill.

What, or who, is Mompesson you ask.

Mompesson was the Rector of Eakring. He moved from Eyam to Eakring in 1670, after Eyam was decimated by the plague.

And this is Mompessons Cross which marks the location of the Pulpit Ash, where Mompesson preached to the locals
